Ha Long specialty: Squid cake. Appearing in 1946 from the talented hands of Mr. Tai Le, a chef of a foreign restaurant during the French period, it was created and passed down to this day. During the years of existence and transmission, squid cake has become a traditional dish with rich flavor, loved by local people, “whispered” to each other, until today. Following the development of the tourism industry in the province, Ha Long squid cake has now become one of Ha Long’s specialties in the eyes of domestic and international friends.
Ha Long squid cake is processed according to a traditional family recipe, pounded by hand, so it has a delicious, sweet and crispy flavor.
Fried squid rolls, dipped in pure fish sauce and pepper, are also delicious with rice. Most commonly, squid rolls are eaten with rice rolls or white sticky rice.
