Description
Rau Mây is a vegetable of the same family as the jute plant, used as a vegetable, cooked with a slimy substance. It is a small woody plant that grows 1-2m tall, has a reddish-brown stem, and few branches. The leaves are long, pointed, rounded at the base, with serrated edges, 5-10cm long, 2-4cm wide, and have 3-5 veins underneath. The stipules are fibrous.
Rau Mây is a familiar vegetable in Vietnamese meals. But not only is it a nutritious food, jute also contains extremely valuable uses.
